Other grilse were also lost. More rain tonight so lets hope. The grilse are very fresh with sea lice and thankfully unmarked.Reports from the rest of the country are poor so lets hope that the fish arrive this week. When the driftnet fishermen were fishing in recent times their biggest catches were in Mid July so lets hope that with the netting stopped we will see a substantial increase in the next number of weeks.

28 June: Heavy rain forecast for weekend and next week will see the system in spate. Last night saw increased runs of small sea trout up to 1lb running and with high tides we will see improved fishing. One grilse fell to a guest with Terence Wharton.Grilse are still scarce as with all Irish fisheries and this coming week will probably see the start of good runs. All fisheries have seen their grilse runs shift over the last decade to much later in the year with July now the prefered time for runs.

26 June: North East winds have really taken hold at the moment but weather from west with heavy rain is making an appearance on next Friday. Grilse fell to Tommy Duggan and Michael Rieger with some excellent fresh sea trout around the 2lb mark landed. Fly fishing is difficult at the moment but with west wind and mild weather this should improve. One good feature of the cold weather is that the water temp is falling.

24 June: A number of salmon and seatrout were taken today but conditions were against the fly. Michael Reiger had a fine fresh salmon of 8lbs and a number of good fresh sea trout, other anglers reported fresh sea trout to 3lbs on troll. We are to have excellent conditions next Fri and Sat with South West winds and rain possibly very heavy.
